Ngutuni sanctuary is a 10,000-acre private game sanctuary, surrounded on three sides by Tsavo East National Park. With view of the Sagala Hills and others nearby, only 2.5 hours’ drive from Mombasa and its international airport. Ngutuni sanctuary and the surrounding Tsavo East National Park is best known today for their fantastic variety of wildlife including lion, cheetah, elephant, buffalo as well as a huge variety of plains game and bird life. It is only in Ngutuni Sanctuary, in the whole of Tsavo East National Park, where one can do a night game drive conveniently and spot a lot of animals including many big cats at very close range.

Our skilled guides will accompany you throughout the expedition, providing fascinating insights into the wildlife and their habitats. Tsavo East charges different Tsavo entry fees for citizens, Tsavo Park Fees East African residents, and non-residents Park fees or Conservation Fees. The fees are designed to help the reserve remain affordable for local communities while also contributing to conservation efforts. 

Ngutuni Lodge Night Game Drive

The Ngutuni Lodge offers night game drives in Ngutuni Sanctuary. The night safaris are led by experienced guides and take place in specially adapted safari vehiclesNight game drives in Tsavo Ngutuni Lodge are quite a thrill and provide a wonderful opportunity to spot the nocturnal animals which are more active at night than during the day. Some of these nocturnal wildlife that you are likely to see include: Aardvark, Leopards, Hippos, Bat Eared Fox, Silver backed jackal, Honey badger, Striped Hyena, Banded Mongoose as well as Bush Baby, Bush Pig, Caracal, Genet Cat, Cape Hares, Porcupines, Civet cats, Aardwolf and Owl plus Elephants - Please Note: Night game drives are not permitted inside the main Tsavo East National Reserve and they only take place inside Ngutuni Conservancy - As to what time or when these night game drives take place, the typical timing is from 7pm to 9pm ( to start the game drive), with a typical duration of 2 hours. The 9 pm night safari would therefore occur after dinner while the 7 pm one takes place before dinner. Note that private vehicles are not permitted on night game drives whilst unaccompanied and in most locations, it is mandatory to have an authorised guide and driver to accompany guests and provide the night safari in line with the local conservancy rules overnight. These night game drives are conducted by experienced local guides in 4x4 Land Cruiser or Land Rover vehicles fitted with powerful lights for proper vision at night (these lights are fitted with animal-friendly red filters). In Ngutuni some of these tour guides are the expert local Maasai wildlife guides. Prior to your game drives, your driver guide or local guide will always brief you on the activities depending on the location of your accommodation.
